The first work made for this show was the table, produced in an attempt to copy the pose of the pond skater as it sits on the surface of water. This object, as an example of the urge to copy or repeat a gesture, seeing animal in object and object in animal, was the starting point for the other works in the show. These works evolved as interruptions or comments on the first act of copying, diluting or focusing the interest in the insect, whilst testing what the gesture could be used for.
